Welcome to my sandbox. A journal, weblog, blog, whatever. I like to call it a feed of my innermost, personal, deepest thoughts. Not really. All I’ll probably talk about is Apple, design, and my ongoing quest for a minimalist content experience.
The Basics
I’m a 24…er…25 year old graphic designer living in the cold tundra of Minneapolis. It really is a great city, we only have one winning sports team but we have great beer, bars, and clubs to keep us warm. It truly is a great place for inspiration.
I work for a software company, specializing in Mac and iOS apps, doing everything from interface design, website design, website development, and occasionally assist the marketing team. This is the appropriate time for this disclaimer: all the content and my opinions don’t reflect the opinions of the company I work for.
Apple
Am I an Apple fanboy? That depends on your definition of a fanboy. I love Apple products because they work for me and my lifestyle. Apple products aren’t for everyone, and I respect that. When Apple fails at something (which they have done and will do), I will write about if it pertains to me. If they succeed, I’ll do the same. But I also keep an open mind. If something is ever worth it for me to switch, I will definitely explore that option.
Design
I design every day. I design every night. I love design. I’m a design fanboy. I officially call myself a graphic designer. But no one is really a “graphic designer.” Creatives like to think about design in general for everything including tangible products, intangible ideas, and the way we live. If I see or hear about something cool, you’ll see it here. I also want to throw in tips specifically for graphic designers.
Minimalism
I’m on a quest. A quest to change the world. No, not really. I’m on a personal quest to find the perfect pure zen computing experience. I call it a content experience because it may not deal with computers, per se. I’m going to continue to write about techniques and experiences that lead me to the most minimalist yet productive lifestyle. A danger is becoming minimalist in the wrong way that hinders productivity. So it does require a good balance.
If you read this far, wow. Go back to work!
